Find references results not in an output panel?

Is there a reason why the Find References results display in a new tab covering up the current file, rather than in an output panel?

It's a bit annoying, and is inconsistent with the way every other search / find refs feature works in every other text editor / IDE...

👍 Furthermore, at least with my Installtion, the entries in the results tab are not "navigatable", i.e. (double) clicking on them has no effect. That effectively means that I have to open the files individually and then navigate to the correct line.
