Armbian/ -gr TUNER 50 etc not passed on to device

Hi,

my config.cmd has this line

-gr tuner 50 rtlagc off

but after starting the service, the logs section in the (extremely useful!!! How about a reboot button?) Control Dashboard still says tuner AUTO, rtlagc ON,

Device : RTL2832U
Settings : rate 1536K bw 192K format CU8 tuner AUTO rtlagc ON biastee OFF buffer_count 24

It is running on an BPI-M2+ with an armbian version based on Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble). I installed AIS-catcher via the "install from source" script.

I guess it is driver related, but then again, it works, I am receiving nmea messages, I just cannot "tune the tuner", if you like...

The problem is I think that the default parameters are set in the json config file (config.json) and this takes precedence. I will remove that for new installs. But can you manually edit this file and remove the RTL-SDR settings?

Hello, I have changed the program a bit and now the input in config.cmd takes precedence (so the pre-settiings do not get in the way) and also removed the critical error for an unknown tag. You can simply run the install script again, it will not change the setting files.

so, I updated to v0.61-172-g70c06981

When I delete a line in the config.cmd via the dashboard, I get this error

unknown switch "ON
"
It is displayed in the Dashboard log in one line, but when I copy/paste it from the Dashboard here, the " is in the next line?

I only have one line with "on", maybe an invisble cr?

Copy/pasting the config in a newly created config.cmd via SSH works.

Edit: Okay, adding the next command in the same line like this works, too. So just not press enter, I guess

When on windows and editing the file I can manage to confuse the script that builds the command line. I think it indeed might be linked to the \r. I have removed that and seems more robust now. Let me know if you still can reproduce the error.

Updated to v0.61-179-g2a390122 and edited config.cmd via the dashboard, so that -gm... and -N... are in separate lines again, and the service starts without errors, hooray!

Hey, me again, not sure if this related or just a coincidence, that is why I did not start a new topic.

I am feeding via -X [id], but the online the site 1048 is shown as offline. I reregistered under the same name, got a new ID and entered this. On the map the icon was then green, but shortly afterwards it is shown as offline again.

I still get the community feed on the local map, though, so the connection must be there.

Apart from updating on the newest versions, I changed the receiver to an airspy, but that should make a difference, shouldn't it?

I changed a test setup to an rtlsdr, but that did not change anything, not that I expected that anyway.
The airspy was to see whether the reception can be improved, but, again, that did not work, not that I did expect that, too.

Is a site just identified by the share_ID? I copied the config from one feeder to the other, so a few things changed, that is why requested a new feader ID. Maybe two sites with the same LAT/LONG? leading to messages being rejected?

No, it is only driven by the sharing key. And not much more.

What is interesting is that I see on the AIS-catcher map, ships near your station, but from an anonymous feeder. This might be your station but the sharing key is not recognised.

I would be keen to see the command line that you used. Let me email you if possible.

For good order, the changes for the RTL-SDR setting I made above have created this issue as a side effect. I have fixed that now and should be resolved when installing the latest:
