Question/feature request - first class support for application testing

This is relevant for any type of testing - unit tests, integration tests, manual tests etc.
Sometimes it is crucial to override the current date or other environment properties, such as locale or time zone.

While mocking date works for most cases, it would be nice to also easily emulate changes to timezones and locale
