Description

When adding footnotes and image description text to markdown of the posts, I can not find a way to wrap the text in my markdown. While the text is rendered correctly in the website, it complicates editing of the markdown. Is there a way to wrap markdown text for images and footnotes?

I tried breaking the lines, but that corrupts the footnote/image description.

The text editor is not the issue. I want to have a character limit on all my code lines, so would be grateful for a solution that enables that.

Correct me if I get it wrong. The texts appear properly on your website. You simply just want to configure your text editor to wrap texts, right?
For example, if you are using VS Code to edit your markdown, you can follow these steps:

• from the View menu (View → Toggle Word Wrap), or
• using the keyboard shortcut: ALT+Z.

No, I do not want to configure one text editor. I want it to display nicely wherever I edit it, incl. github. So I wanted to find a way to break lines rather than configure a text editor. But if that is not possible to achieve I understand and will just need to live with it. :)

Markdown, like other markup languages, is stored as plain text, and the syntax determines how it renders. So, here, line wrapping is just a function of the editor you are/will be using, not Markdown. If you want to enforce a fixed character limit per line, you need to manually break lines at the desired length when writing or use a tool/script to format your Markdown files accordingly. And again, as I was saying, those tools/scripts are editor-specific features.

Yes exactly! I want to break lines. But I do not know how to do it for images and footnotes in chirpy.

Manually adding new lines or breaks in footnotes or image descriptions can break their syntax. So, it might not work. So, as I mentioned before, you simply need to change the view settings (enable line/word wrap) in your text editor.
